- Review your housing options.
On-Campus Dorms
Apply for on-campus housing soon! Our dorms fill on a first-come, first-served basis. There’s a separate housing application along with a roommate matching form and deposit. Your housing application isn’t valid until the deposit is received. You can print off the forms you’ll need from our website or call the Resident Manager at 573-897-5165 to find out more.
Off-Campus Rental Housing
LSTC has a list of rental properties in the community. This list is provided as a courtesy to students. LSTC is not responsible for availability, quality, or rates. Contact Admissions for a copy.
- Apply early for Scholarships & Tuition
Waivers.
LSTC has scholarships and tuition waivers available for incoming freshmen. There is a separate application you will need to complete. You may mail in a paper copy or apply online at www.linnstate.edu.
Tuition Waivers waive tuition only. Should outside funding become available, it will take precedence over the college tuition waiver. Priority deadline for tuition waivers is May 1 for fall enrollment and December 1 for spring enrollment. If you will be receiving A+ benefits, you will not be eligible for LSTC internal tuition waivers.
Scholarships are corporate, endowed and privately sponsored and are often program specific. Check the scholarship application to see if you are eligible to apply for these scholarships. Deadline is February 15 unless otherwise noted.
- Complete the FAFSA form for Financial Aid.
Financial aid is available in the form of grants, loans and work study. To be considered for federal and state financial aid programs, complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Forms are available through high school counselors or financial aid offices each December for the following academic year (fall, spring, and summer).
Or you can submit the FAFSA online through the Department of Education’s site: www.fafsa.ed.gov.
The Linn State FAFSA Title IV Code is 004711.
- Attend New Student Registration.
Once you’ve been admitted into a program, you’ll be invited to attend a New Student Registration session. At registration you’ll meet your faculty advisor and enroll in classes.
Visit our Bookstore to find out which books you’ll need for your classes. Many programs require tools and other supplies as well. The Bookstore can give you a complete list for your program and details about ordering them through LSTC.
- Check the mail for your bill.
Four to six weeks before classes begin you will receive a bill for your charges. Your bill is due on the first day of classes.
LSTC offers a payment plan option which allows you to pay your charges (tuition, fees, and on-campus room and board) in monthly installments. To participate in the payment plan you have to sign up ahead of time. Contact the Cashier for more details.
- Watch for your room assignment.
If you have an on-campus housing application on file with LSTC, the Resident Manager will mail you information about your room and roommate assignment. Frequently, students are placed on waiting lists for a room due to the high number of housing applications received.
- Send us your Health & Immunization Record.
All students must complete and submit the Health & Immunization Record. You’ll need a licensed health care provider (doctor or nurse) to sign the form OR you may attach copies of your shot records to the form.
- Submit final official transcripts.
We need a final official high school transcript, GED score report, or college transcript in your file. To be final, it cannot be a faxed copy. It must be mailed directly to LSTC from your school. The high school transcript must include the date of graduation and the seal/stamp from your high school.
- Transfer & Articulation Credit.
LSTC has more than 225 agreements with most area career centers in Missouri. Credits from these schools may apply toward your degree.
To receive this credit you’ll need to have your career center instructor send in the articulation forms. If you have questions, contact our Registrar.
Have you already earned college credit? Be sure to send us those official college transcripts, too. If you’re transferring from another college you’ll need to also submit the Transfer Information Form. Call Admissions for details.
