Continuing Technical Education
Continuing Technical Education (CTE) courses were requested and developed more towards the construction - contractor, city, state, and county employees. Other customized training can be developed per request.

On-Site training is available for courses that have 8 or more applicants. To schedule training, please contact Cynthia Cox for a list of available days.

All classes require a minimum of 8 applicants to conduct training. Classes with less then 8 applicants may be canceled. Class maximum is 30.

Payments
Classes held at Linn State Technical College require prepayment of course fees, 10 days prior (unless arrangement are made) or you will be dropped from the course.

On-Site courses will be invoiced the beginning of the month after the class is held.

Costs
Course fees are listed after each description.

On-Site package price is based on payment for 16 attendees, with the option of sending 20 attendees. Each additional attendee after 20 is charged the per student price.

Construction Math Refresher-
This course focuses on mathematical operations and their practical application to solving trade problems. Percents, decimals, conversions, fractions, etc. will be used for calculations of areas, volumes, and sizes. Time: 4 hours Cost: $100 per student or $1,600 package price.

Flagger - This course is intended for individuals who perform flagging and temporary traffic control activities on Missouri’s roadways. Individuals seeking qualification as MoDOT’s Work Zone Specialist are encouraged to take this course prior to taking the Advanced Work Zone-MoDOT course. This training session includes lectures, videos, and hands-on exercises to present the following: proper use of personal protective equipment, work zone components and types of operations, flagging procedures, proper and improper flagging operations, as well as communicating with workers and the public. This course is based on the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) standards. Participants are tested on their abilities and issued a certificate of completion along with a wallet-sized card to carry on their person. This course fulfills MoDOT specification 616.4.3. Time: 4 hours Cost: $100 per student or $1,600 package price

Advanced Work Zone-MoDOT -This course is designed for individuals who supervise traffic control technicians and other field personnel and who are responsible for implementing the Traffic Management Plan. This training session includes lectures, videos, and hands-on exercises to provide comprehensive training on work zone standards, guidelines, installation and removal procedures, inspection, and documentation. Students are taught how to read and interpret traffic control plans for implementation in the field, and how to correct and document deficiencies. The course expands on the concepts and techniques taught in the Basic Work Zone & Flagger course. Participants are tested on their abilities and issued a certificate of completion along with a wallet-sized card to carry on their person. This course fulfills MoDOT specification 616.3.4(a). Time: 8 hours Cost: $250 per student or $4,000 package price

Basics of Hot-Mix Asphalt Highway Construction - This course is designed to provide those individuals working in roadway paving and/or maintenance the basic knowledge necessary to safely and efficiently maintain Missouri highways and roadways. This course covers the following topics: surface preparation, mix delivery, mix placement, joint construction, compaction, and asphalt patching 101. Time: 6 hours Cost: $100 per student or $1,600 package price

Asphalt Field Technician - This course is designed for those individuals who have the day-to-day control over the field paving operations. Those benefiting from this course are inspectors, supervisors, and quality control personnel. This course covers the following topics: best practices for quality construction, troubleshooting techniques, interpretation of test results, review of proper techniques for truck loading and unloading, paver operations, and field compaction. Time: 4 hours Cost: $100 per student or $1,600 package price

OSHA 30 Hour Construction (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) - This course is a comprehensive safety program designed for anyone involved in the construction industry. Specifically devised for safety directors, foreman, and field supervisors; the program provides complete information on OSHA compliance issues. OSHA recommends outreach training program courses as an orientation to occupational safety and health for workers covered by OSHA 29 CFR 1926. Participants are required to take a final exam with a minimum score of 70 to receive a certificate of completion and an OSHA 30-Hour Construction Outreach DOL course completion card. Time: 30 hours (5 days; 6 hours each day) Cost: $300 per student or $4,800 package price

OSHA 10 Hour Construction (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) - This course is designed for construction workers as an ideal orientation to those who are new to the industry and as a reminder those who have been working in the industry to the hazards associated with their work. Specifically devised for construction workers, foreman, job supervisors, and anyone involved in the construction industry. OSHA recommends outreach training program courses as an orientation to occupational safety and health for workers covered by OSHA 29 CFR 1926. Workers must receive additional training, when required by OSHA standards, on specific hazards of the job. Participants are required to take a final exam with a minimum score of 70 to receive a certificate of completion and an OSHA 10-Hour Construction Outreach DOL course completion card. Time: 10 hours (2 days; 1-6 hour day and 1-4 hour day) Cost: $140 per student or $2,240 package price

Specifically designed for safety directors, foreman, and field supervisors; the program provides complete information on OSHA compliance issues. OSHA 10 Hour General Industry (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) - This course is designed for entry level workers for employee safety and health awareness and for supervisors with safety and health responsibilities. Participants will be introduced to OSHA policies, procedures and standards as well as general industry safety and health principles covered in OSHA Act Part 1910. Special emphasis will be placed on areas most hazardous using OSHA standards as a guide. Participants are required to take a final exam with a minimum score of 70 to receive a certificate of completion and an OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Outreach DOL course completion card. Time: 10 hours (2 days; 1-6 hour day and 1-4 hour day) Cost: $140 per student or $2,240 package price
